Frequently Asked Questions What can I expect if I visit on a Sunday morning? More than anything, you will find a diverse group of folks who love God and desire to know Him more and follow Him with their lives. We do this through Sunday School for all ages (”Discipleship Time”) and our corporate worship service comprised of fellowship, music, prayer, and Bible teaching.
Do I have to dress up to come to church? We approach Sunday with the desire for people to come as they feel most comfortable. You will find people at Bridgeway dressed casually, as well as more formally. Our hope is that people would come foremost with hearts that desire to experience God in His fullness.
How long does the service last? Our worship services typically last 60 - 75 minutes. Occasionally the service lasts 90 minutes when we have special opportunities.
Do you have a program for my kids? We are blessed to have a tremendous ministry for kids of all ages. Loving, dedicated teachers and helpers invest their time and energy to present the truths of God in ways that children can learn and grow. This takes place prior to the worship service. During the service we offer a nursery for our 1-2 year olds and a wiggle time for our 3-5 year olds. Can someone pray or talk with me? Absolutely, yes! We are a church committed to prayer. You can approach one of our leaders to pray with you, or you can simply ask someone you meet. If you desire to keep your prayer confidential, just say so and we will honor that. Our bulletin has a tear-off section that provides you a place to write down your request as well. Where are you located? We meet for worship at “The Bridgeyard”, our main church office and meeting space. The Bridgeyard is located in Ames just North of the North Grand Mall. The address is 1005 Top-o-Hollow Road. When are your services? Our Sunday worship service begins at 9:30 a.m. I don’t know much about church. Do I have to be spiritual or know a lot about the Bible to participate? No. God takes each of us where we are at in our journey of faith. We believe the Bible is accessible to people at all stages of faith. We are careful to present God’s truth in ways that anyone can understand and apply. Will I be asked to give money? We offer an opportunity during our service for people to give financially as an act of worship. As a newcomer, however, please see yourself as our guest and come with no expectation to give. We place no pressure on people to give, but instead see it as a heart response to God and a joyful privilege of our partners. What kind of music do you sing? At Bridgeway, we sing and play a wide variety of music. Wonderful teams of people lead the music with guitars, piano/keyboard, drums, and vocalists. Will I be asked to stand up or identify myself as a visitor? No. We want to respect you and provide a place where you feel safe and welcome. We do, however, take time in the service, and following the service, to welcome one another. If you want to let us know about you, or if you desire information about Bridgeway Church, you can share your contact information on an information pad that we pass each week. |
